The Office of Township Assessor is one of the most important and least understood of all township offices. The Assessor does not assess taxes or property. The Assessor DOES appraise property and place values based upon formulas set by the Illinois Department of Revenue. Using these valuations, taxes are levied by local governments, collected by the Madison County Treasurer, and remitted back to fund local governmental districts and their programs. The mission statement of the Jarvis Township Assessor’s Office is to identify, update, and value all taxable property, in accordance to the Illinois state statutes in a fair, courteous, efficient, and uniform manner, for all constituents within our jurisdiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
